The CrossFit training method, as its official website notes, is known for having no limits. CrossFitters do not adhere to any one training system, but incorporate them all to ensure that you increase your endurance and flexibility as well as your strength and speed. Many women contemplating an intense workout program such as CrossFit are concerned that they will build too much muscle. In reality, this is not likely.

Know Your Body

Simply working out hard won't make you bulk up like She-Hulk. Women typically lack a sufficient quantity of testosterone to bulk up. The CrossFit program involves many different types of strength training, so you can try them all without fear of bulking up. The more varied your workout is, the more you'll be able to fine-tune the results.

Eat Right

The layer of fat that women carry between their muscles and their skin helps give them the softness that distinguishes them from men. If you work out hard with the CrossFit training method and don't take in enough calories, you will lose that small cushion of fat and may end up looking less feminine than you want to. Keep your skin supple by staying hydrated and eating a well-balanced diet of lean protein, fresh vegetables and fruits, whole grains and essential fatty acids. The CrossFit training method is challenging, so fuel your body enough to keep up with it and still maintain your feminine shape.

Work Your Core

One of the things that distinguishes women from men is the hourglass shape where the waist curves in between your ribs and your hips. Women tend to gain weight around their middle as they age. Your body stores fat in two different places on your abdomen: under the skin, which is called subcutaneous fat, and deep with your abdominal cavity, which is called visceral fat. The accumulation of both kinds of fat is reversible. Working your abdominals and obliques and strengthening your core can firm and tighten your midsection, while the aerobic activities that are part of a CrossFit workout can help you lose both subcutaneous and visceral fat.

Be Fearless

Any muscle gain that happens with the CrossFit training method is reversible. Linda Hamilton no longer has the warrior arms she showcased in the first two "Terminator" movies because she no longer works out as intensely. Don't be afraid to test your limits. If you find yourself looking less feminine than you wish to, work out with lighter weights, decrease your training intensity, and step up your stretching and endurance workouts.
