Have you heard of a garlic, apple cider vinegar and cayenne pepper mix for weight loss? It's one of the many combinations thought to have weight loss benefits. But is there enough evidence to support this claim?

Capsaicin, the active ingredient in cayenne peppers, has been found to possess weight loss benefits. The compound is purported to contain anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antioxidant properties as well, according to a January 2017 review in Pharmacognosy Reviews.

In the study, 110 participants with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) were divided into an intervention group, which received two garlic tablets daily, and a control group, which received a placebo. The intervention group had a significantly greater percent change in body weight, than the control group.

There are several healthy ways to lose weight that don't involve an apple cider vinegar and cayenne pepper mix or apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, honey, lemon weight loss concoction. Better Health Channel advises not skipping meals, having a healthier approach to food — increasing your fruit and vegetable intake, cutting down on saturated fats and alcohol, replacing sugary drinks with water and eating a variety of foods.
