I don't say this often at all, but I'm here to tell you about one time I was wrong. Fully wrong.
Let me start by saying I'm not your average fitness apparel snob. Sure, when it comes to athleisure, I want all the fashion-forward stuff on the market. (My closet is loaded with Alo clothing!)

But once I set foot in the gym, my gear is performance-driven. I don't care if it's stylish, cute or colorful — on the contrary, most of my workout clothes are all black. The less flashy, the better.
So, when a friend sent me the link to APL's Streamline running shoes, I rolled my eyes. I'd heard of the brand before but had never even considered shying away from my tried-and-true brands, like Nike or Reebok. Not to mention, a $320 price tag on sneakers that weren't a designer? Pass.
But after actually having tried the Streamlines, I can admit that I was absolutely, positively incorrect.
Functionality and Features
At first glance, it's clear this is a beautiful shoe — sleek with just the right amount of cushion. It also comes in dozens of colors, including bright neons and understated earth tones.
But again, that's utterly unimpressive and unconvincing for a performance-driven gal like myself. However, the upper is different from any other running shoe I've worn. Unlike most running sneaks, these don't have a cushy mesh upper. Instead, these have an ultra-lightweight woven fabric that gives plenty of flex and breathability.
Personally, I hate shoes with too much fabric in the tongue because it often bunches up when I walk. But the ventilated tongue on these is thin without making me feel like my foot is unstable.
When it comes to cushion, these APL shoes certainly don't disappoint. I was pretty doubtful at first because they look like they would feel heavy and chunky. But they're actually super lightweight and springy, perfect for a jog around the block or walk through the park. I feel like I'm being propelled forward with each stride.
Another pretty big bonus: The bottom has a high-traction rubber. I love to run by the beach, but the loose sand on the sidewalk is a little tricky to navigate without sliding. But with this tread, a potential slip and fall doesn't even cross my mind.
Get Your Perfect Pair of APL Running Shoes
As someone who had never tried an APL sneaker before, I can fully admit I'm now a convert. These shoes may look trendy (and they are), but they're also way more functional than I could have ever imagined.
But you don't have to take my word for it: There's a reason several color styles regularly sell out.
Ready to hit the trail, treadmill or sidewalk with a functionally fashionable foot forward? Gear up with this perfect pair of running shoes.
APL, like many footwear manufacturers, markets some sneakers to women and men. The main differences between most women's and men's shoes are width and size. In some cases, men's shoes are built to support greater weights, so people with bigger bodies may want to try men's versions, while people with smaller bodies may prefer women's versions.
These shoes, specifically, are unisex, so it's best to consult the size chart before you purchase your pair.
